Coach will grew up here in San Francisco where he played AAU basketball and Varsity at Archbishop Riordan High School.
Coach Will has built the Bay City girls program into one of the strongest in the Bay Area. Will has great passion for the individual skill details of basketball that help turn good players into great players. Will has been coaching with Bay City since 2011, and has served as the Girls’ program director since 2013. The program has blossomed under his leadership.
Coach Will Watkins is the Girls’ Varsity Basketball coach at his alma mater, Archbishop Riordan HS, & is entering his 25th year as a coach at the youth/high school level. He is now entering his 5th season as the Varsity head coach and has the Riordan girls team in the discussion of one of the best teams in the Bay Area.
The Bay City girls’ high school program is now a member of the prestigious Adidas 3-Stripes Select (3SSB) Circuit. 40+ girls have gone on to play at the collegiate level under coach Will in the past 9 years.
We are thrilled to have him as a part of our administration and coaching staff.
“99.9% of youth basketball players don't become professional basketball players so the life lessons taught by coaches and role models are more important than anything basketball related. Although valuable, the outcomes of the games and physical skills learned are not nearly as influential as teaching youth good sportsmanship, strong work ethic, having a positive attitude, constructive teamwork and most importantly how to win at life.”
